The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) hereby invites qualilfied companies to submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) to participate in the upcoming competitive bidding exercise to supply virtual server replacement solution to the UN Environment. IMPORTANT: Please note that this REOI is not an invitation for submission of tenders. Its purpose is to identify eligible vendors that would be interested to participate in the related upcoming solicitation. The complete detail of the requirement will be provided in the tender document that will be issued to bidders after this request for EOI is closed. UNON reserves the right to change or cancel the requirement of this EOI at any time during the EOI and/or solicitation process. Submitting a reply to this REOI does not therefore automatically guarantee that your company will be considered for issuance of the solicitation documents. Only vendors who, in UN"s sole discretion, are deemed eligible and qualified, upon completion of an objective evaluation of the EOI submissions, may receive the final tender solicitation documents. 1.1. Specifications Regarding the Hardware UN Environment will need virtual servers that can host Windows and Linux environments with Drupal managed services. The servers will exclusively be provided for UN Environment use. The operating system and software applications will be provided and installed by the hosting company as part of the server maintenance plan to back-up of all data and protection of the servers. Bandwidth to the internet For internet traffic connectivity to these hosted servers, UN Environment requires a minimal committed rate of 20 Mbit/sec of bandwidth. This bandwidth should be able to be burst into 50 Mbit/sec in case of high traffic to the hosted websites. Security and Patching The hosting company should secure UN Environment hosted servers behind a redundant firewall system in order to provide the following security requirements: • Port level firewall protection • Intrusion detection & prevention • Worm & mole prevention • Anti-virus scanning on http, ftp, smtp and pop-niveau • Real-time network scanning with 24/7 alerting Backup and restore The hosting company should provide an extensive backup system for the hosted servers. Full back-ups will be needed on weekly basis in addition to the incremental daily backup. The hosting company should provide (attach) their back-up and maintenance plan for review and acceptance by UN Environment. More detailed terms of reference will be provided together with the solicitation documents.
